The Yakima SweetRoll is a saddle style kayak rack which can carry one kayak on the roof of your car, truck, van, or suv. The Sweet Roll utilizes an integrated universal mounting system which allows it to fit nearly any crossbar system on the market. This includes Yakima, Whispbar, Thule, Inno, and Rhino-Rack roof racks in a variety of bar styles such as round, rectangular, or aero style bars. The SweetRoll will also fit onto most factory installed crossbar systems.
The SweetRoll includes a set of 4 kayak saddles which support the hull of your kayak. all four saddles pivot both side to side and front and back to accommodate a wide variety of hull shapes and deigns. The two rear saddles feature a built in roller, which allows you to easily load and unload your kayak from the rear of your vehicle. Simply place the front of the kayak onto the rear saddles, walk to the rear of the kayak, lift the kayak up and slide it forward until it contacts the front saddles, continue to slide the kayak forward until the boat is evenly position over the kayak rack. It is now time to secure your kayak on to the roof rack and to the vehicle using the included tie downs.
The 8004074 SweetRoll includes a pair of Yakima Heavy Duty Tie Down Straps
to secure your boat onto the roof rack as well as a pair of cam buckle bow and stern tie downs to secure the kayak to the front and rear of your vehicle. If your vehicle does not have existing front and rear tie downs you can use either the Thule 529 Hood Loop
or the Yakima Anchor Strap Kit
for the front tie down points and the Thule 530 Quick Loop
for the back tie down.
If using the Yakima SweetRoll on a set of Yakima Roundbars there are a set of anti-rotation adapters included in the box. These adapters will clamp around your crossbars and prevent the SweetRoll from spinning on a round bar when you load or unload your kayak.
If you would like to lock the SweetRoll kayak rack on to your crossbar you can purchase a Yakima 4 Pack of Locks
. One SKS lock core is installed into each saddle to prevent someone from removing the carrier from your vehicle.
