Yakima BowDown Folding J-Style Kayak Rack

The Yakima BowDown J-style kayak carrier is designed to carry one boat on the roof of your vehicle. The BowDown features an integrated loading ramp which makes it easy to load your boat on to the kayak rack from the side of your vehicle. The top of the line HullGuard padding protects your boat from dings and scratches. The BowDown's SteelCore construction uses a steel tube frame for superior strength and rigidity.

Included with the Yakima BowDown are a pair of Yakima Heavy Duty Tie Down Straps to secure your kayak onto the kayak carriers and a pair of cam buckle Bow and Stern Tie Downs to secure the kayak down to the front and rear of your vehicle. If your vehicle does not have existing front and rear tie downs you can use either the Thule 529 Hood Loop or the Yakima Anchor Strap Kit for the front tie down points and the Thule 530 Quick Loop for the back tie down.

The 8004042 BowDown is able to fold down when not in use by loosening red knob located on the side of the kayak carrier. This allows you to keep your kayak carrier installed on your vehicle without sticking up as high. The BowDown's universal mounting hardware allows it to fit on round, square, and aero style bars as well as most factory installed crossbars.
