Mazda 5 Inno IN-XR Roof Rack Installation
Inno is a Japanese rack manufacturer that produces roof racks, cargo and ski boxes, bike racks and more. Recently we mounted a Inno Rack system onto a 2007 Mazda 5 using Inno’s IN-XR Towers, TR 120 Fit Kit, and IN-B127 Load Bars.
The Mazda 5 includes a fixed point mounting system integrated into the roof which allows for a clean mounting system without the use of clips into the vehicles doors. This customer was planning on mounting a ski box in the future and was looking for a less expensive roof rack option which used the factory fixed points. The Inno IN-XR Roof Rack System worked perfectly!
The first step in installing this crossbar system is mounting the plate and pad system that come with the TR120 Fit Kit. An initial plate is installed to the vehicles fixed point system and then an attachment bracket installed to the plate.
The second step is to attach the IN-XR Towers to the IN-B127 Load Bars. The IN-XR towers slide over the bars with the locking mechanism facing the outside of the vehicle. The rubber end caps are placed on the ends of the bars to prevent moisture from getting inside the bars and to protect from unwanted head to bar contact!
The third step is to set the tower into the bases and align the attachment mechanism. When the locking handle is opened as seen in the picture it can be tightened to ensure a proper secure fit.
Prior to tightening the tower down completely you will want to measure how much bar is sticking out on either side and ensure that both sides are even. To finish tightening the tower onto the base you will lift the lever upwards as shown in the picture below.
The Final Step in attaching the rack system is to slide the covers over top of the towers and then lock the rack with the supplied keys. When locked the cover cannot be removed and the crossbars cannot be removed from your vehicle.
When the Inno crossbar system is not in use it can be removed and caps are supplied to cover the bases for a cleaner look.
