How to Carry E-Bikes on an Arvika Bike Rack

So you are in the market for an Arvika bike rack but you are unsure if if will carry your new electric bikes. Well, you're in luck! With the right parts, an Arvika bike rack can carry bikes up to 120lb, so carrying 2 e-bikes is definitely doable!

Every Arvika bike rack is made up of multiple parts including the bracket which attaches to your A-frame, the bike attachment, and depending on the quantity of bikes/weight of the bikes, a support arm system.

Below is a system we installed for a customer last Summer that was being used to carry 2 - 50lb electric bikes. For this system we used the following components:

• Arvika Travel Trailer Bracket
• Arvika 6" S-Posts (used to accommodate the mounting width on this customers trailer)
• Arvika 2 Bike Attachment - Black
• Arvika Telescopic Support Arm x 2 (mounted in a "V" formation to support front corners of the bike attachment)
• Arvika Wheel Stoppers x 4 (used to prevent the bike tires from rolling in the trays)

Using 2 support arms to increase weight capacity

A typical 2 bike Arvika system does not require the use of any support arms but since e-bikes are much heavier than a standard bike 2 Telescopic Support Arms are needed in order to increase the weight capacity to 120lb. E-bikes tend to be in the 50-65 lb range so this system should accommodate most e-bikes. Keep in mind that the listed weight of your bikes is often with the battery installed so removing it during transport will reduce the weight of your bike.

By using 2 support arms, mounted in a "V" formation, the front corners of thebike rack are both properly supported. This makes the bike rack very rigid preventing any sagging in the rack when the bikes are loaded and prevents any bouncing from occuring when driving.

Using wheel stoppers to prevent side to side movement

While not required, adding the Arvika Wheel Stoppers to the trays of the Arvika 2 Bike Attachment will prevent the tires of the bikes from rolling back and forth in the trays. While wheel straps are provided to strap the tires down the Wheel Stoppers do a great job of keeping the bike trays in place.
