Register your Thule and Yakima Keys

Make it easier to replace lost or misplaced keys by filling out our key registration form below. Your key number will be recorded in our database for future reference. Should you need a replacement key simply give us a call or drop by one of our Edmonton store locations and are staff can look up your key number.

How to determine your key number

If you own a Thule or Yakima roof rack or accessory you can find the key number engraved on one side of the key. Thule key numbers start with an "N" followed by 3 digits. The key numbers range from N001-N250. Yakima key numbers start with an "A" followed by 3 digits. The key numbers range from A131-A155. You can also register key numbers from other brands such as Kuat, SportRack, Swagman and others but in some cases replacement keys are not available for purchase.

What happens if you lose your keys and don't know the number?

If you have lost your keys and don't know the key number, don't panic! We can assist you in determining the key number and providing replacement keys. The process for replacing keys when you don't know the key number varies by brand so please read on below.

Lost Thule Keys

For most Thule products purchased before January 2019 the key number is marked on the face of the lock cylinder. Simply find this number and you can order the corresponding key. For most Thule products purchased after December 2018 you will likely have a new set of Thule locks which have upgraded security features. These locks do not have the key number marked on the face of the lock cylinder. In this case you will need to bring your roof rack or accessory in to one of our store locations. Our staff will be able to determine the key number using a master key ring.

Lost Yakima Keys

Yakima does not mark the key number on the face of the lock cylinder but they do mark it on the inside of the lock cylinder. If your rack is unlocked you can use the change key (this is the blank key used to install and remove lock cylinders) to remove the lock. You can then locate the key code on the side or end of the lock cylinder and order the corresponding key. If your Yakima rack is locked you will need to bring your roof rack or accessory in to one of our store locations. Our staff will be able to determine the key number using a master key ring.
