Jeep Wrangler JK Roof Racks and Spare Tire Bike Racks
Update July 5, 2016: There is now a heavy duty option available for the Jeep Wrangler JK that is perfect for roof top tents. Check out the Rhino-Rack BackBone for Jeep Wranglers.
The high clearance and off-road capabilities of the Jeep Wrangler JKs make them the perfect North American adventure machine. But if you've ever used one for a road trip, you know how quickly your cargo capacity disappears. Thankfully, Jeep Wrangler JK roof racks are available to help you carry cargo baskets, canoes, kayaks, bicycles, ski boxes, and more.
We carry fully removable and permanent-mount removable racks for the Jeep Wrangler from Thule and Yakima. These options are much simpler and cheaper than full frame Jeep racks that bolt on to the bumper and side mirrors, which require additional crossbars to carry anything.
Thule 300 Gutter Mount Rack for Jeep Raingutter
Thule makes the best fully removal rack option for the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 4 door. The Thule 300 Gutter Foot rack fits right into the drip-rail along the Jeep's roof, requiring no permanent mounting hardware. The rack clamps on with a vinyl-coated steel clip that gets tensioned on using the knob at the end of the tower. Lock cores can be added to the tensioning knobs to secure the rack to the rain gutter.
- 1 x Thule 300 Gutter Foot Towers (set of four towers)
- 1 x Thule LB58 Load Bars or LB65 Load Bars
- 1 x Thule 544 4 Pack of Locks
- 1 x Thule 300R Rapid Gutter Foot Towers (set of four towers)
- 1 x Thule ARB60 AeroBlade Bars (silver) or ARB60B AeroBlade Bars (black)
- 1 x Thule 544 4 Pack of Locks
Yakima Control Tower Jeep Hard Top Racks
Need different positioning compared to what's offered with the Jeep's drip rail? Yakima's Control Tower rack is a locking, quick-release style crossbar that connects down to a Landing Pad base with fixed position or T-track mounts that get drilled and bolted through the fiberglass roof.
Yakima's Landing Pad 6 is a fixed mount intended for use on fiberglass roofs such as the hard tops on the Jeep Wrangler or on truck canopies. Two holes get drilled for each Landing Pad 6 base, which sits down on the roof with a large rubber gasket underneath. Silicone is included to seal the holes, and rounded, black plastic cap housings surround the nuts inside the vehicle for a nice looking finish. Each Landing Pad 6 includes a pair of bases, sufficient for one bar. Note that multiple sets of Landing Pad 6 bases can be purchased to give you the option of multiple mounting positions.
- 1 x Yakima Control Towers (set of four towers)
- 1 x 48", 58", or 66" Round Bars
- 2 x Landing Pad 6 (fiberglass mount with cap nut hardware)
- 1 x 4 Pack of Yakima Lock Cores
Looking for maximum adjustability? Yakima offers Control Tower rack packages with Landing Pad 1 bases that slide in 42" or 54" T-tracks. These systems offer total versatility in bar placement and more even weight distribution thanks to the surface area of the T-Track. The tracks are bolted at several positions along their length, and cap nut hardware is included to cover the bolt ends inside of the vehicle. The kits below include Landing Pad 1 (T-track mount) bases that are able to sit anywhere along the length of the track using a square nut that sits in the T-track.
Jeep Wrangler Spare Tire Bike Racks
Once you have a crossbar system on your hard top, our roof mount bike racks can be used to carry bicycles. For one or two bikes, our customers tend to prefer a spare tire bike rack for ease of loading, keeping the roof free for cargo baskets or boxes. Spare tire bike racks attach using a plate that gets mounted behind the spare tire, with a lockable bolt to secure the rack behind the spare. Check out the following spare tire bike racks that work with stock Jeep wheels.
